Developing Deterioration Rates of Texas Bridges Using NBI Data 0-6979

With historical inspection data for thousands of bridges in Texas, deterioration models have been developed for the main components of a bridge by researchers at the University of Texas at San Antonio. These models are designed to help TxDOT predict when a family of bridges will likely transition from one condition state to another for its main components — deck superstructure and substructure. The information allows for a new approach in planning bridge preservation strategies.
