Founded in 2004 by Luigi Frizzo, the bookshop embodies Venice uniquely and authentically. The books, eccentric decor, resident cats, and, of course, the occasional high water are all symbolic of Venice. To shield the multitude of books from the encroaching water, Luigi employs gondola and bath tubs instead of conventional shelves.
Made from discarded books destined for disposal, at the back of the library there is a staircase that serves as a stunning spectacle offering a beautiful view of one of Venice's canals.
