So, Fado ... after Amalia Rodrigues' concert in Brasov, Romania in 1968, her songs began to sound more and more often in my country and everywhere in the world (or António Rocha and others not forgetting Portuguese poetry also), reaching my ears, which remained forever sensitive and curious about this special, particular musical genre. And over time I began to really want to visit Portugal and listen to fado at his home, a dream that only came true about 20 years ago when I had this wonderful experience visiting Lisboa, Cascais or Porto, a special and probably unique city in world. I was really impressed by the warmth with which I was received by the Portuguese wherever I was, and in time I also made several friends, among whom I especially remember Susana Gonsalves, a lady who was often with me in the most difficult moments, but also about the Portuguese language and customs. A language very similar in writing to my language, probably the only living language that shares an impressive number of common words. We also share a special word that refers to the feeling of longing and the struggle with fate, which is also the main subject of fado music. I tried to translate some of my old lyrics, many from the 80s into this very special form of music, I know I didn't succeed in everything but... I hope this little tribute to fado music will be a pleasant audition. Muito obrigado!
