George Washington (1732-1799) was a general and statesman known as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and its first president from 1789 to 1797. He led the Patriots during the American Revolutionary War and successfully led them to independence from Great Britain. He also presided over the 1787 Constitutional Convention which established the new federal government. Thanks to his leadership during the struggle for the independence of the United States, he was given the title "Father of the Nation".
Washington was born into a wealthy family who owned tobacco and slave farms in the Colony of Virginia. He had the opportunity to get an education, and by the time he was seventeen, he had a successful career as a land surveyor. He later became the leader of the Virginia militia during the French and Indian War.

During the Revolutionary War, he was sent as an envoy to the Continental Congress, and he was unanimously elected commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, and he won the Siege of Yorktown that ended the war.
He was born in a society accustomed to slave labor, so he owned many slaves, but he became more and more annoyed with slave groups and even freed his slaves in his will. He is a member of the Anglican Church and the secret organization of Freemasonry. He called for tolerance of all religions while he was general and president. After his death, Washington was remembered in various ways, such as in the form of monuments, works of art, place names, postage stamps, and currency. Experts also consider him one of the best United States presidents of all time.
