Key Provisions of Section 18:
Prohibition of Violence: The respondent can be restrained from committing physical, emotional, sexual, verbal, or economic abuse.
No Contact Orders: The respondent may be prohibited from communicating with the aggrieved person through calls, messages, or in-person.
Ban on Specific Acts: Prevents the respondent from entering the workplace, school, or any other place frequented by the aggrieved person.
Protection of Family Members: Extends safeguards to relatives or anyone assisting the aggrieved person.
Additional Restrictions: Includes preventing the respondent from alienating assets, accessing joint bank accounts, or causing harm to pets.
Example in Practice:
Suppose a woman, Riya, is facing threats and harassment from her husband after filing a domestic violence case. Under Section 18, the court can order the husband to:
Stop contacting her in any form.
Avoid visiting her workplace or relatives' homes.
Cease abusive behaviors like withholding financial support.
