How to Spot an Emotionally Immature Person | Emotional Immaturity and Narcissism
This video talks about 10 signs of an emotionally immature person and how this relates to the concept of narcissism. All narcissists are emotionally immature but not everyone who is emotionally immature are narcissists. Narcissistic traits include: A sense of entitlement, grandiosity, the need for external validation, and a lack of empathy.
Emotionally immature people struggle to maintain healthy relationships. While some emotionally immature people are capable of change, it can be very difficult to change the traits of emotional immaturity without intensive therapy and potentially even couples therapy. While one or two of these traits isn't enough to label someone as emotionally immature.. if your partner has several of these traits across many different circumstances - emotional maturity may be something they struggle with.
Traits of an emotionally immature person:
1) Their actions and words don't line up - they say one thing and do another.
2) Selfishness - they prioritize their needs above your needs.
3) Inability to take responsibility
4) Difficulty expressing their own feelings and emotions
5) A lack of empathy
6) Poor Communication
7) Emotional Reactivity
8) Impulsiveness
9) You feel lonely in the relationship
10) React poorly to criticism
