The Iconic FJ40 is the longest running production vehicle by Toyota.
As of 202, there has been close to 11 million Landcruisers produced and sold worldwide.
Im 1984, the FJ40 was last produced in Japan (but continued in other production facilities for specific markets) and Toyota had a Heavy duty 4x4 ready to take its place.
The successor to the FJ40 was the 70 series Land Cruiser. We did not get the 70 series in the US market, instead we got the 60 series as Toyota wanted to give a more luxury appointed vehicle for the US, and 70 series lacked in some Federal guidelines for import.
The HZJ73 in this video is a 1992, RHD 1HZ 4.2L diesel engine, which has been recognized ss one of the best engines made by Toyota, capable of service up to and beyond 1 million miles!
With the 25 year import rule for the US, we will start to see more of the 70 series, as they are incredible overlanders and built for heavy duty use.
Hope you enjoy the comparison video.
