Sketchbook, watercolour paint box, decent (but not super expensive!) watercolour brush, (#6, Taklon, or Sablene) scissors, glue, coloured pencils and markers, pencil sharpener, variety of pens and pencils . Construction paper, old magazines and newspapers....

Clinton at College, this most local of local shops carries some great sketchbooks, inks and pens for all budgets! (Did I mention they are lovely humans?)

A few locations around Toronto, closest is Bloor at Bathurst. Wide selection of art supplies from the most basic to pretty fancy and specific!

Gwartzman's https://gwartzmans.com
Spadina south of College, limited selection of stuff online, but they were getting more things in. Always been one of the best in Toronto where art students could really stretch their budget.
