Peat turf production, near Athlone, Ireland - 29th May 2023 - See Description for extensive links!!

The peat turf production in this video was carried out near the derelict Moydrum Castle, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. A picture of the castle is featured on the cover of U2's 'The Unforgettable Fire' album.
Nearby is the site of the, now disused, RTE radio transmitter which contains a Marconi Medium Wave radio transmitter that was installed in 1932. This transmitter is the oldest of it's type, in Europe, still in it's original location.
