Infolive.tv - Israel News - Shemi Tzur Israel's Ambassador to New Zealand dismissed as "science fiction" reports suggesting Israelis caught up in the February earthquake were Mossad agents.

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key confirmed on Wednesday an investigation was underway by the SIS but said there was no evidence the Israelis were intelligence agents, the paper said.

On Tuesday The Southland Times alleged that Ofer Mizrahi killed in the Christchurch quake and his three friends were Mossad agents.

The newspaper claimed the country's security services were investigating the suspicious behavior of the Israelis, noting Mizrahi's friends made a hasty departure following the quake.

Tzur countered the claim calling it upsetting saying he drove the Israelis to the airport as they were keen to return home. He also denied the allegations claiming Mizrahi had in his possession five or six passports noting many Israelis have dual citizenship

"These were youngsters holidaying in your beautiful country ... we encourage our young people to visit New Zealand," Tzur said.
