The United States Army Airborne School, also known as "Jump School," is a rigorous training program that prepares soldiers to become paratroopers.

The program is designed to teach soldiers the necessary skills and techniques to safely parachute from an aircraft and land on a designated drop zone.

The Airborne School is located at Fort Benning, Georgia and is open to all soldiers, regardless of their military occupation specialty.

The program is divided into three phases: ground week, tower week, and jump week.

During ground week, soldiers learn the basics of parachute rigging, parachute landing falls, and how to properly exit an aircraft.

They also participate in physical training to build the strength and stamina necessary for the jump phase of the training.

During tower week, soldiers train on a 34-foot tall tower to practice exiting an aircraft and controlling their parachute descent.

They also learn how to perform parachute landing falls, which are techniques used to safely land in various types of terrain.

The final week, jump week, is when soldiers put their training to the test by conducting five static line jumps from an aircraft.

A static line is attached to the airplane and the parachute opens automatically.

After successfully completing all five jumps, soldiers are awarded the coveted Airborne wings and are authorized to wear the Airborne tab on their uniform.

The total training takes three weeks to finish.

The Airborne school is considered one of the most physically and mentally demanding programs in the United States Army and the training is intense, but the reward is the ability to become a paratrooper, one of the most elite units in the Army.
