Race Oncology Ltd CEO Dr Daniel Tillett talked with Proactive about the activation of the company’s first clinical site in Hong Kong for its Phase 1 RC220 trial in advanced solid tumours. Located at Queen Mary Hospital, this marks the start of patient enrolment in the region, with screening underway and the first patient expected to begin treatment this month.

The trial evaluates RC220 in combination with doxorubicin, focusing on safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and the maximum tolerated combined dose. Dr Tillett said: “Activating the first RC220 trial site in Hong Kong for our solid tumour study is a key milestone for Race Oncology.”

A second Hong Kong site at the Prince of Wales Hospital has also received regulatory approval and is expected to begin recruitment soon. This expansion follows early treatment of two patients in Australia and supports broader enrolment across multiple regions, including South Korea.

The study is using a Bayesian trial design and will enrol up to 53 patients over two stages. Stage 1 will focus on dose escalation, while Stage 2 will assess the optimal dose’s impact on safety and early biomarkers of treatment activity.
