The family of a British couple released after months of detention by the Taliban has expressed their "immense joy" and relief at their release. Barbie Reynolds, 76, and her husband, Peter, 80, were freed from a prison in Afghanistan after being held there for more than seven months.

A third person has been deported under the government's 'one-in, one-out' deal with France. Home Office sources said the man, an Iranian, had been returned to France on Friday. It follows the second deportation of an Eritrean man earlier on Friday, who had arrived by small boat in August.
