Why did Dev and Subhashree break up?
This question still lingers in the hearts of millions of Bengali cinema fans.

They were not only a hit on-screen pair, but also a real-life couple admired by many. Their journey began in 2009 with the blockbuster Challenge, directed by Raj Chakraborty. The love story soon went beyond the screen, and even talks of marriage had started.

But like any dramatic twist in films, real life took a sharp turn.

🎭 A new chapter began when model Rukmini Maitra entered Dev's life. Though she hadn’t yet stepped into films, her growing closeness with Dev created a rift between him and Subhashree.

📌 Eventually, Subhashree stepped away from the relationship, leading to their last appearance together in Khoka 420 (2013).
After years, they reunited professionally in Dhumketu (2015)—a film that is finally releasing in 2025!

💬 Dev once said, “In this lifetime, neither will Subhashree remove Dev’s name from hers, nor will I remove hers from mine.”

Subhashree also mentioned, “If the character and script are strong, I have no issues working with Dev again.”
