The Energica Esse Esse 9 Electric Motorcycle. Fast, Fun, Planted. Should You Get One?

We love riding motorcycles here at Transport Evolved. Both Nikki and Kate are both keen bikers, so whenever a chance presents itself to get on two wheels, we're there!

Back at CES 2018, they both fell in love with the Energica Esse Esse 9, a then brand-new Italian electric motorcycle that not only looked the part but seemed to tick plenty of boxes on paper. The only downside we saw at the time? Its price.

Now, after a week of riding it, Nikki's here with her verdict on the motorcycle she's been wanting to ride for a really long time. Did it live up to the hype -- or is it let down by one very small, but very essential oversight?

Note: Due to stock, the motorcycle we've reviewed is the 2018 model year variant. The 2019 model year is subtly different, and adds extra rider assistance safety features like traction control as standard.
