Traveler & certified cell phone journalist Khurram Ally takes you to historical tours of Brigadier Gen John Nicholson and world famous Taxila Museum located around the historical Grand Trunk road near Islamabad, Pakistan.

This structure was built in 1868 in honor of Nicholson a British army commander of the colonial era. The General was born in 1822 in Northern Ireland & after education he joined the Bengal infantry of East India company in 1849.

He also served as Dy Commissioner of Bannu city in present day Pakistan.

During his military career he participated in four wars for the British. He had a fiery temper & was known for his extremely prejudiced & racist hatred towards the people of subcontinent & Afghanistan. He was also a sadist.

He died of his wounds during the storming of Delhi in September 1857 during the great war of independence.

TAXILA MUSEUM

World famous Taxila Museum is situated 35 KM north west of Islamabad, Pakistan. It was opened in 1928. The beautiful Museum consists of a central hall flanked by two galleries.

Sir Alexander Cunningham discovered the remains of Taxila in mid 19 th century. The museum is home to all the relics, artifacts & statues of Buddha excavated in and around the area. The relics go as far back as to 1st & 2nd century BC.
Alexander the great also visited the ancient city of Taxila along with his troops.
