This video is a pretty solid example of a good Company level Operations Order (OPORD) brief. This video demonstrates how to appropriately brief every portion of an OPORD brief. Note though, that this was pretty fast due to time constraints, so there are some details that we left out in order to make it faster.

As you should know, there are 5 paragraphs to an Operations Order: Situation, Mission, Execution, Service Support, and Command and Signal.

What you may not know (let's be honest, probably don't know) is what all goes into each of those paragraphs.

In the situation paragraph, we develop our products and briefing material based off of the METT-TC analysis we did earlier in the Troop Leading Procedures.

We specifically go into details on Enemy & Friendly situation as well as Terrain analysis.

During the execution paragraph, we start with the concept of operation which is a holistic overview of the entire military operation. Then we go through each phase hitting the necessary specifics and tasks to subordinate units. Notice that we brief by warfighting function by phase. This is an approach that I recommend at the company level and above. Not so much for a platoon level OPORD brief.
