Step 1: Ovarian Stimulation Hormone therapy - Ovarian stimulation is achieved by using fertility medication to promote the growth of the follicles. This process can last for upto 12 days. The ovarian response is monitored through ultrasonography and blood investigations done at regular intervals.

Step 2: Egg Collection - After 12 days of ovarian stimulation, a trigger shot is given to rupture the follicles. The ruptured follicles can be collected (egg collection) after 36 hours.

Step 3: Sperm Preparation - On the day of egg collection, the male partner gives a fresh semen
Sample, which is analysed and processed to be used in the IVF process.

Step 4: Egg Fertilisation - The processed sperm are then used to fertilise the eggs. After 16 to 18 hours, the eggs are checked to confirm if fertilisation has been successful.

Step 5: Embryo Development - A fertilised egg is referred to as embryo. The embryo is then cultured in an incubator for 3 to 5 days.

Step 6: Embryo Transfer - Based on the quantity, quality and growth of the cultured embryos, the embryologist selects the best embryos and an appropriate day for transfer into the uterus of the female partner.

After the embryo transfer, support medicines are prescribed to enhance the chances of pregnancy.
After conception, the baby grows in the womb of the mother just like a normal pregnancy.
