Personally, "Melati Suci" or "The Holy Jasmine" is my favorite national songs to be played on harp. The melodies and lyrics harmonize so well with the gentle pluck of the harp strings. This song was composed by the son of the first Indonesian president, Soekarno, where he celebrates "melati" or jasmine flower's (Indonesia's national flower) serene beauty. At the same time he acknowledges the flower's deeper symbolic meaning as a reflection of the nation's character.

In the flower world, jasmine flower symbolizes purity and grace. The first verse of the song portrays the blossoming of white jasmines in a royal garden, the delicate fragrance spreading across the world. Additionally, the song honors the sacrifices made by those who fought for Indonesia’s independence. The jasmine flower is likened to precious gemstones, being presented to the national heroes. Furthermore, the word "melati" is repeated and emphasized in a way that feels like a prayer, offering reverence to the flower and everything it represents.
