BREAKING NEWS | Historic Kebang of Kumku, Bum, Ramku, and Diine Sika Villages Declares 100% Non-Consent — “We Won’t Give an Inch”
Kumku, Bum, Ramku, and Diine Sika Villages, Geku Circle, Upper Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh:
The Traditional Kebang (Village Council) of Kumku, along with Bum, Ramku, and Diine Sika villages, was formally convened by the village elders in accordance with customary law — the highest and time-honoured authority for deciding matters concerning land, rivers, mountains, forests, and all traditional resources within their ancestral boundaries.
After intensive and collective deliberations, the Kebang unanimously passed and signed a binding village resolution declaring:
Total rejection of the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP).
Total rejection of all Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) activities.
Absolute prohibition of surveys, mapping, geological studies, or any project-related entry into the customary lands of Kumku, Bum, Ramku, and Diine Sika.
The elders made it unequivocally clear:
No consent has been given. No consent will be given. We will not give an inch of our ancestral land.
The people affirm that their land is not negotiable, not transferable, and not subject to political pressure, inducement, or administrative maneuvering.
Any attempt to bypass the Kumku, Bum, Ramku, and Diine Sika Ane Kebang, manipulate consent, or impose external decisions will be treated as a violation of customary authority and community rights.
The Kebang stands as the sole legitimate decision-making institution within the traditional boundaries of these villages.
Its resolution reflects 100% collective will.
Their position is final and resolute:
No Dam. No PFR. No Entry. Not an Inch.
