As you can see, it’s been a long time since I have not posted any videos in my channel. I was a bit preoccupied with my exams and all, so it was really hard for me to borrow some time for painting. The reference image I am using in this video is from Pixabay and it is a stunning image. The moment I saw this image, I was trilled to paint the glowing smile in her face which created a certain longing for this portrait in my heart. And that too in classic black and white, was just like icing on the cake for me.

I started with a initial base drawing of the portrait which I did freehand, because I just feel more comfortable working freehand rather than using grid or all those mechanical methods of drawing. But there is nothing wrong with those methods either, you can choose to draw with grid method or tracing whatever you feel comfortable with. Now, once the basic drawing was established I just refined it little further by adding some details to it despite knowing that, most of the drawing will be lost once I will cover the drawing with acrylic under painting. Once I was happy with the drawing I just blocked in the basic tones of the portrait to create a solid base for my painting, and at this stage I was literally using quite big flat brush with loose brushstrokes to establish the model of the face. After having a solid base I started working in the eyes and the eyebrows to define them even further. The eyes plays a major role in defining the characteristic of a portrait. Now, at this stage I was just building the layers of paint one over another accompanied by subsequent amount of blending to provide them a finished look. In my video I have shared different tips and techniques for painting the relatively tricky phases in a portrait like the hairs, eyebrows, eye lashes and many more . So watch the full video in order to get a better understanding of my approach towards painting a portrait. I am sure, it will add value for your future portrait painting.
