In Ireland, 1 February marks the beginning of spring and the celebration of St Brigid’s Day/ Lá Fhéile Bríde. The day has long symbolised hope, renewal and the feminine.

Since 2018, Irish Embassies and Consulates across the world have been marking the day by celebrating the creativity and achievements of women.

This year Brigid and her trailblazing ways will be celebrated for the first time with a national public holiday on February 6th.

This short video I Am Brigid, was created by the Department of Foreign Affairs to celebrate St Brigid’s Day 2023/ Lá Fhéile Bríde, and features a number of Irish women who are trailblazers in their fields.
