We Replaced The Starter On This Mercedes & Now It’s Misfiring!

This Mercedes came in to the shop and everything seemed to be super cut and dry. The client had just bought it and now it wouldn't start. We drove it afterwards multiple times with no issues. Then, the next day we got a call from the client stating that the vehicle was running horribly. The check engine light is flashing and it's clearly misfiring. Did we do something to cause this issue?
