Kajal Sharma is an outstanding exponent of Kathak(Indian classical dance), a powerful and imaginative artist who displays breath-taking technique in both pure dance and abhinaya. She has been part of Kathak fraternity for the last 50 years .She is a disciple of the great Kathak maestro Padma Vibushan Pandit Birju Maharaj.
She has over four decades of experience of teaching Kathak all over the globe. She is a great role model who always seeks to give her best, encourages teamwork, is highly professional in approach, can be relied to provide extra support where required, knows the importance of boosting morale.
Recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademy national scholarship for the in-depth training of Kathak under Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj.
Kajal was a lecturer of performing arts at Dayal Bagh university in Agra for over nine years, winning first prize in several National Youth Festivals with her students for her choreography.
After settling in UK she also served as a lecturer of Indian dance at West Cheshire college Chester in UK.
Kajal is one of the founder members of Sanskar Bharati, responsible for conducting numerous Kathak workshops in different parts of India for the promotion of Kathak.

Kajal has performed widely across the globe and also conducted workshops in several countries including- Bulgaria, Malaysia, Germany, Singapore, USA, Libya, Russia, Iraq, Thailand, Moldova, Taiwan, Japan, Greece, Japan, Ukraine , Venezuela and Reunion.)
These were as an invited artist as well as an empanelled artist of Indian Council of Cultural relations (ICCR) India. Her audience has included many dignitaries including several Prime ministers , Presidents, Prince Charles and Queen of Thailand.
Kajal has performed at numerous prestigious national dance festivals in India including- Khajuraho Dance festival, Kalka Bindadin Kathak Mahotsava, Sur Singar Samsad, Kathak festival, Kumbha samaroh, UP festivals, Taj festival, Haridas Sangeet Sammelan,  Kumbh Mela and Vasantotsava.
Her performances are a part of Indian national  television archives (Doordarshan)created for preservation and promotion of Kathak globally, as Top grade artist for the national television.

Recipient of numerous national and international awards for her performance and contribution to Kathak Dance, including -UP. State academy awards,
International young achiever award by Cambridge UK, for Jaycees, Shringar Mani Award, outstanding young achiever award, Kalashree, Brij Ratna award, the great Indian women‘s award, commonwealth innovation award.

Presently settled in UK, performing and teaching for over two decades, pioneer of teaching Kathak dance in the North Wales and North West of UK, with numerous of her students successfully undertaking  national level Kathak examinations.
Kajal is teaching Kathak for Vedic Organisation for Indian Culture and Education in Manchester and Wirral.

Her workshops have included work at several schools including schools for special need children as well as charities.
Kajal is also an examiner for Imperial Society of teachers of dancing (ISTD) for national and international examinations.
