1. Importing Your S/MIME Certificate - Double-click your .pfx or .p12 certificate file to start the wizard, Select 'Current User' and enter the private key password when prompted, Allow the wizard to automatically select the best certificate store for you.
2. Accessing Outlook's Security Settings - Navigate through File, Options, Trust Center, and then Trust Center Settings, In the new Trust Center window, locate and click the 'Email Security' section, Under the Encrypted email heading, click the 'Settings...' button to proceed.
3. Linking Your Certificate in Outlook - Click the 'Choose' button to select your certificate for signing and encryption, Ensure the correct certificate is selected by verifying the subject name details, Give your new security configuration a memorable name for easy future identification.
4. Activating and Using S/MIME - Set as default and choose to automatically sign or encrypt all messages, Find the new 'Sign' and 'Encrypt' buttons in the 'Options' tab, Send a digitally signed email to share your public key with contacts.
