Thanapara Swallows make beautiful, hand-crafted clothing and home textiles that are environmentally friendly, and provide fair prices and work opportunities to artisans. “We run development programs through our NGO to promote literacy, education, health and women’s rights awareness” says Santo Haque, the Handicrafts Manager. “Products are all made by hand using organic cotton, and artisans are well-trained in a range of traditional skills like handweaving, appliqué work, embroidery and tailoring".

Thanapara Swallows Development Society is an active member of the World Fair Trade Organisation and is a Fair Trade Guaranteed social enterprise for garment manufacturing. Children’s day care and primary education activities are provided for producer's children. Other benefits include fair wages, improved working conditions, transparency and accountability, child labor avoidance, gender equality and training.
