Teens charged with assaulting an Uber driver and carjacking| Australia News | NewsRme
Accusations of severe assault have been leveled against five teens accused of attacking an Uber driver whose vehicle had been hijacked in Adelaide's north.
The event happened on a hectic night for the SA Police on the highways, when a vehicle attempting a burnout wounded a lady and a drunk driver was reportedly found driving over 70 kilometres per hour above the speed limit.
Just before 11 p.m., an attack on an Uber driver happened in Parafield Gardens, and police were sent. A 14-year-old youngster was taken into custody.
Injured and transported by EMS to Lyell McEwin Hospital, the victim was a 48-year-old local guy
According to police, the man's automobile was carrying four other teens who left the situation near Ingle Farm and Klemzig, where witnesses saw the car being driven "erratically, at high speed, and on the wrong side of the road."
After striking a parked vehicle, police used a helicopter and canine patrols to hunt down the occupants, who included a 19-year-old Seaton male and a 15-year-old Golden Grove girl.
Each one of them was indicted on charges of aggravated assault and driving while intoxicated.
An 18-year-old Henley Beach male was charged with reckless driving and violating the requirements of his learners permit, while a teenage girl was accused with assaulting police.
Police have requested anybody with dashcam video to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 333-TIPS (8477). The suspects will appear in court in Elizabeth in the coming days.
On the Lincoln Highway in Eyre Peninsula, a suspected intoxicated motorist was clocked doing 183kph in a 110kph zone, according to police.
That's almost 3 times the legal limit, according to the police report.
After a backfire at Elizabeth Downs at 2:30am, a 22-year-old Newton man lost control and struck a vehicle, a tree, and a lady on the street, his license was suspended for six months.
The 21-year-old was brought to Lyell McEwin Hospital with an arm injury.
