How The Cannabis & Real Estate Industries Go Hand-in-Hand

In today's episode, Alex and Matt sit down with Josh Rogina. Josh not only is a partner at Infinity Assets, where they focus on real estate entitlements, but he also co-owns multiple Cookies stores in California.

For those that don't know, Cookies is a national leading Cannabis brand co-founded by rapper Berner.

Josh discusses how he utilizes his agriculture & real estate background to get a foot into the cannabis industry and how he became a preferred partner with Cookies to now co-owning several Cookies stores in California. They recently secured a store in Fresno, California, and will be opening soon.

While California has legalized marijuana, 80% of municipalities within the state still haven't passed their local process for allowing cannabis business. What burdens the cannabis industry currently is all the different taxes at the local and state levels: cultivation tax, distribution tax, local tax, state tax, etc. Every city and state has a different tax rate and different regulations. On top of this, there is more cultivation taking place than there are retail sores. Josh hopes to see both reform and standardization in the next 2 years for the cannabis industry.

Josh's advice for entrepreneurs is to show up! Get to know the people in your community and get their support. You don't need a lot to get started, just get started!
