If we continuously heat water, it get converted in to vapours. The process of conversion of water into its vapour is called evaporation. The process of conversion of vapour into water is called condensation.
With the help of evaporation and condensation it is possible to separate components of solution. For this method to work, different components must have different boiling point. Boiling point is a temperature at which the liquid substance get converted into vapour form.
We use this method to separate salt from seawater. Basically, sea water is captured in shallow pits. The sunlight heat the water and slowly water get evaporated. After complete evaporation of water we get salt free from water. It is then further purified to be used in our food as common salt.
From earth's crust we get crude oil. It is mixture of various components such as petrol, diesel, kerosene etc. These components are separated with the help of evaporation and condensation method.
