Operation Sindoor Debate Rajnath to Lead, Opposition Slams Modi's Absence, Manipur Crisis

The government has agreed to a full-fledged debate on Operation Sindoor in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, beginning Monday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to lead the government’s response, detailing the counter-terror operation launched after the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26.
However, Prime Minister Modi will be absent from Parliament between July 23 and 26 due to an overseas trip — a move the Opposition is expected to strongly criticise. The INDIA bloc, in a separate meeting, stressed the Prime Minister should attend and answer key questions.
Meanwhile, Kiren Rijiju, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, has assured that the government will respond on all fronts — including recent claims by Donald Trump about mediating India-Pakistan tensions.
The Opposition is gearing up to raise a host of concerns: the ethnic violence in Manipur, rising China-Pakistan hostility, and allegations of stepmotherly treatment of Jharkhand, voiced by Mahua Maji of the JMM. Gaurav Gogoi of the Congress said Manipur’s crisis has dragged on far too long.
Key INDIA bloc members like TMC and AAP skipped Sunday’s all-party meeting, with AAP now officially out of the alliance. DMK joined the meeting, though MK Stalin did not attend.
Among the bills listed for this session are amendments to the Manipur GST, Jan Vishwas Bill, National Sports Governance, IIM Bill, and Goa’s ST Representation Bill.
In a related twist, satellite images shared by defence expert Damien Syman suggest India may have struck Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, a known nuclear site, during Operation Sindoor. Images show crater damage and repairs near the Sargodha airbase, although Indian officials earlier denied knowledge of the site’s strategic nature.
