£3 Journey of a Lifetime: Sri Lanka's Epic Train

Join us in Ella, the heart of Sri Lanka! After spending a couple of days here, we finally embark on the trip of a lifetime - the famous Sri Lanka train!

The full train journey runs from Colombo to Ella and vice versa, and takes around 9 hours. The most famous and scenic section of this route is between Kandy and Ella (minimum 6 hours).

Due to our direction of travel, we hopped on the train at Ella and headed north! We think this could have been great for us, as it is more popular for tourists to catch the train that heads from Kandy to Ella (south), and our train ended up being relatively quiet. By quiet, I mean that you could walk around and take your spot hanging out the doorway whenever you pleased.

In this video, we journey from Ella to Nanu Oya, which is the closest train station to Nuwara Eliya. Stay tuned as we’ll cover Nuwara Eliya in our next video!
