50 ton/day Biomethanation Plant at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand

Описание к видео 50 ton/day Biomethanation Plant at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand

Rudrapur, district headquarters, trading centre and situated on the banks of Kalyani
river in Udham Singh Nagar district of the northern state of Uttarakhand, India, is the
'Gateway to Kumaon, but was struggling with waste management.
In 2021, Rudrapur Nagar Nigam, took this unique enviro-friendly initiative and issued
a contract to successful bidder Mailhem Group for setting up Uttarakhand’s first
compressed biogas project from 50 ton per day of segregated organic waste
generated daily in Rudrapur city.
Mailhem along with its Singapore Investor Plataforma Asia invested completely to set
up a company - Rudrapur Green Energy Pvt Ltd to solve for the waste problems and
at the same time generate clean fuel and fertilizer for the benefit of Rudrapur
citizens.
Come let us see this compressed biogas project – phase 1 is now completed.
The organic wastes like vegetable and fruit market waste, hotel waste, household
wet waste and cowdung is supplied in Rudrapur Nagar Nigam vehicles. This project
can also take agro waste and other organic wastes. It is weighed on a weighbridge
and unloaded in the unloading pit. The green organic waste is further segregated on
slow moving belt to remove plastic, metal, rubber, glass and other non biodegradable
items. The organic waste is shredded and converted into slurry. The slurry is
“homogenized” and pumped into Mailhem Anaerobic Digesters.
These anaerobic digesters have agitator-mixers and special bio cultures which break
down the organic slurry into biogas and fermented organic manure. The liquid
coming out from these digesters is partly recycled for crushing the fresh waste and
the rest is passed through a solid liquid separator machine. The liquid manure is
stored in a lagoon and directly sold to farmers. The solid manure is bagged, packed
and sold under “Kalyani Brand”- named after river Kalyani.
The biogas is collected in large rubber balloons and purified using patented Vapour
Pressure Swing Adsorption systems designed by Indian Institute of Petroleum
Dehradun which is licensed to Mailhem. Part of the biogas is used to generate
electricity using a biogas generator set. This is a unique example of the entire
compressed biogas plant running on its own renewable electricity.
The rest of the biogas is then converted to compressed biogas with methane
percentage in excess of 95%. This Compressed biogas is then pressurised and
stored in CNG cylinders and CNG cascades. The CBG is sold to hotels and
industries. Soon, this project will be registered under Govt of India’s SATAT scheme
and a CBG dispensing station will be constructed where the CBG will be used as
vehicle fuel for cars, buses and trucks.
This CBG project has achieved many milestones in making Rudrapur city cleaner
and greener.
Rudrapur Nagar Nigam now is co-ordinating with Rudrapur Green Energy for future
plans which include setting up containerized units for river cleaning, atmospheric
humidity to drinking water projects, cheap liquid organic manure for farmers, dry
waste management and converting all garbage vehicles on CNG.
