MCI 2005 Protecting Reinforced Concrete Against Corrosion

Описание к видео MCI 2005 Protecting Reinforced Concrete Against Corrosion

Incorporation of MCI® Corrosion Inhibitors to concrete mixes is a simple, time-proven, cost-effective and environmentally friendly method of achieving significant enhancement in durability.

Cortec MCI® 2005 is an amino carboxylate organic corrosion inhibiting admixture that is incorporated into concrete mix designs at a fixed rate of 0.6 liters per cubic meter. Amino carboxylate molecules are attracted by steel so they migrate through the concrete to form a monomolecular layer that passivates the steel surface. They protect both the anodic and cathodic components of the corrosion cell to raise the chloride threshold to initiate corrosion to 0.18% and reduce the corrosion rate by approximately five times.

The effect of Cortec MCI® 2005 on the service life of structures can be quantified using service-life prediction software such as Life 365. Depending on other parameters, service life can be increased by more than 30 additional years.
