The spring flowers in my home country the Netherlands are special. In March you can see countless species of flowers in the wild. Like Narcissus (or Daffodils), Crocus, Snowdrop, Blue Anemone, Siberian Squill and more. They are very small to strikingly large. I set out in various parks, cities and towns to capture this phenomenon. You will see countless types of flowers and in different colours such as white, yellow, blue, purple and pink.

These flowers have a special history. From the 17th century, the Dutch sailed around the world. They went in search of spices and countless raw materials for clothing, for example. There they also saw countless plants that can withstand the cold winter weather.

A few flowers were brought home and ended up in the gardens of the rich. Over the years they have become feral. That is why you can now find them everywhere in Holland.
