First, it was the pandemic, now the cost-of-living crisis is taking a toll on Australia's live music industry.
More than 1,300 venues have closed in just five years.
The industry is calling for a levy on major concert tickets, including shows performed by Taylor Swift, to prevent more going bust.
The chair of the Australian Live Music Business Council, Howard Adams, says those funds could go into a charitable trust from which grassroots music venues can make fast turnaround grant applications for small projects up to $15,000.
It means the next generation of local artists will have somewhere to perform. Professional musician Tori Forsyth credits such venues with helping her find her voice and her crowd.
