My songsheet from long ago said the comic composer and performer was Tom Hudson and that it was written in 1818. It was published in 1826 in one of his many comic song collections. Still as true today as it was back then. The recording is from our Pratie Head cd "We Did It! Songs of people behaving badly." Bob Vasile, vocals and guitar. Jane Peppler, vocals and concertina.
