Rob Huge is the founder of Greenfields Academy. Rob was inspired to create Greenfields after six months of homeschooling his own children whilst traveling through Central America. "I couldn’t bear to put them back into traditional school. The rows of desks, fill-in-the-blank worksheets, one-size-fits-all curriculum, constant high-stakes testing, and the immense amounts of wasted time and lost potential were too much."

Instead, Rob sought to create an alternative to the traditional school model, "where failure is embraced as a learning opportunity and pushing past limits is expected. The graduates of this school would be prepared to tackle the challenges of the future while leading full, happy lives, profoundly rich with meaning and purpose."

When School's Not Working

We are a group of experts in alternative education who share a commitment to excellence in education, the happiness and well-being of children and families, and the belief that schooling is not working for many millions of young people. In many cases when a child receives a diagnosis for a learning disability, an attention disorder, or a mental health issue such as anxiety or depression, schooling may be the problem - NOT the child. We do not pathologize the child. Instead, we help parents explore healthier, more positive alternatives for children who are not flourishing in their current educational environment.
