This was the fastest connection from Edinburgh to Kings Cross, and only ran on weekdays. We were 3 minutes late approaching Newcastle due to a late running train being in front of this one. We passed York at line speed. This was the only LNER train didn’t stop at York. We were not required to reduce speed before approaching Peterborough. However, we were running straight behind a Thameslink fast service, causing 2 minutes delay arriving at Kings Cross.

I travelled on first class for the journey, aiming for the Egg Royale (egg Benedict). It was delicious. I bought a Seatfrog upgrade for £33 2 weeks in advance. It really worth the cost. Moreover, the battery of my phone was just enough for the entire journey. It died out when I just pressed finish button.

This service had been altered to call additionally at York, and the journey time was extended by 13 minutes, becoming one of the slowest up fast services.
