Odontogenic Keratocyst - Histopathology, Head and Neck Pathology

Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor (not recommended since 2017)
Cystic lesion with a thin squamous lining
Diagnostic features include the presence of pallisading of the basal layer and a corrugated (or ruffled) layer of parakeratin on the surface
Inflammation is usually sparse but may obscure the diagnostic histologic features
Extensive sampling may be necessary for diagnosis
Accurate diagnosis is important as recurrence is common
