Kia has recently released another EV to add to their award-winning range; the EV4!

On paper, the EV4 has many similarities to the slightly smaller EV3, however the 4 features a lower ride and is available in the hatchback or saloon style, rather than an SUV.

2 battery sizes are available the 58.3kWh and the 81.4kWh (as standard in GT-Line and GT-Line S models). I tested out the standard ‘Air’ hatch with the long range battery, providing an official range of 388 miles WLTP combined, I achieved.. 388 miles based off my impressive 4.8mpkWh figure! Although the EV4 is slightly bigger than the 3, it’s lower and more aerodynamic shape make it more efficient & hence giving it a longer range.

The EV4 essentially bridges the gap between the EV3 & the more premium EV6, a car which features a higher level of battery tech being based on 800V architecture rather than the 400V.

It’s great to see a wider range of body styles being offered, instead of exclusively SUVs. The was a lot of talk about if people preferred the hatch or the ‘Fastback’, I personally liked both but think the hatch would be the easy option. When driving the EV4, this is where the lower ride height can really be felt, providing a more engaging and efficient drive.

Many similarities can be found now across Kia’s wide range, with the new steering wheels, bold angular exterior design & clean infotainment systems. I liked the design of the GT-Line & GT-Line S models more so than the standard Air, which was well equipped, but didn’t have as much of the ‘wow factor’ the flagship models delivered.
