Germany v England - Women's Women Hockey World League Final Argentina [03/12/13]

"Day Three, Match 2 saw Germany take on England, with England gaining all three points.

First Half, saw both team trying to settle in the game but the first goal came half way through when England's Kate Richardson-Walsh mistaken pass lead to a German attack. Franzisca Hauke received the ball in the D and her shot was deflected in by teammate Eileen Hoffmann. However Germnay's lead did not last long when German defender Katharina Otthe pass was intercepted by Hannah MaCleod and the ball went straight to Alex Danson whose ferocious shot went straight pass the keeper and brought her team levelled.

Second half saw England take the lead, from a Penalty corner, Nic White's shot was touched in by Sophie Bray who positioned herself in a great position to see her shot pass the keeper. England were managing to hold onto the lead withstanding a number of German attacks including Jana Teschke shot was sent into the D but England Keeper Maddie Hinch (GK) deflected save met Kate Richardson-Walsh who cleared England's line.

England had the chance to extend when Sam Quek's good run saw Helen Richardson-Walsh cross into D but Ashleigh Ball's diving effort was unable to connect with the ball. It was finally over when Alex Danson added another goal to her tally with an amazing solo effort. Danson picked up the ball in the attacking corner, passed two German defenders and chipped the ball over Barbara Vogel (GK) into the net, sealing the win for England.
