Leviathan EX is the first EX primal introduced alongside 2.2, and was your first real means to get a weapon of higher item level than the previous cap.

The average item level I suggested in the video is a bit high. At the previous cap of i90 it was a bit difficult. To have an easier time I'd suggest i95 to i100. The reward for winning is an i95 weapon, and on rare occasion a mirror that lets you upgrade one of these weapons even higher.

I feel I didn't explain Leviathan's dashes very well, so I'll try to speak on it more coherently here. Whenever Leviathan retreats into the water he'll follow with a number of dashes. Early in the fight, or at specific times there will be only the final slam, others there will be a few dashes first. Similarly, after he retreats, before the first dash, water bubbles will fall on the arena, and if hit you'll be slowed as well as take some damage. Early on these won't happen, but they will increase as the battle continues.

To dodge the dashes, stand in the center of the arena and wait. Spin the camera and look for water spouts. Listening to them with stereo sound can tell you in what direction they appear. Shortly after the spout Leviathan will dash from the spout location either horizontally or vertically along the platform. There are two spaces for vertical dashes and three for horizontal. He always ends the dashes by rising up and slamming into the arena, tilting it. To not fall in the water you have to be on the opposite side of the arena from the slam. After that you can attack him again. I never bothered memorizing how many dashes or slams he does when, so I suggest simply playing it safe. If you see the spout indicate one of the three horizontal dashes, but NOT the one in the center, simply run to the opposite side of the arena, and return to the center if it was a dash and not a slam.
