Samsung Galaxy S8 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung’s 2017 flagship 5.8” Android smartphone, also available as the larger 6.2” Galaxy S8+. The S8 has a curved AMOLED 2960 x 1440 display (18.5:9 aspect ratio) with minimal bezels for a compact footprint. The Galaxy S8 runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung’s TouchWiz software and their Bixby virtual assistant (the voice activated feature won’t be available until later this spring).

The US model has the Snapdragon 835 CPU, while overseas models may have Samsung’s comparable Exynos 8895 CPU. The phone has 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage and a microSD card slot. It’s water resistant, has Bluetooth 5.0, Samsung Pay, a fingerprint scanner, iris scanner and facial recognition scanner. Like the Galaxy S7, it has a rear 12MP camera with f1/.7 lens and OIS that can shoot 4K video. The front camera is upgraded to 8MP. The Galaxy S8 is priced around $750 and the S8+ is around $850. The phones are available on most carriers.
