In this video, I test out a thirty dollar dropper post as a potential alternative to traditional Mountain Bike dropper seat posts. The intended purpose of this dropper post was to be used on rental beach cruiser bikes so that each new rider could customize the bike to their desired height, not for mountain bikes. That didn't stop us though! We wanted to see if it could be repurposed for the mountain bike community. Unfortunately, the main drawback of this seat post was that our mountain bike seats got in the way of the handle that activated the dropped. This means that to get this dropper seat post to be effective, you either need to run your seat backward or get a seat with higher clearance (like a beach cruiser seat).
Even though it isn't the best at the end of the day, this has to be hands-down the cheapest dropper post on the market! Especially considering that the is in about the same range as normal hydraulic dropper posts. This could be something you buy as a cheap way to upgrade a town bike, but not necessarily for mountain bikes.
