Dimensional Data Model is a denormalization technique invented by Ralph Kimball. In this model, there are two types of tables:

Fact Table which contains: Metrics, Foreign keys of associated dimensions, optional Degenerated Dimension, optional Audit information
Dimension Tables are the Descriptive entities associated with the fact table

A Dimensional Model Design, has a fact table is surrounded by dimension tables, this design is referred to as Star Schema
