Temporary ACROW Bridge to Open Today at Kankumba Stream – RDA

The Road Development Agency, RDA, in collaboration with the Zambia National Service, has completed a detour at the washed-away section of the Great East Road at Kankumba Stream, approximately 87 kilometres from the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport roundabout.

According to RDA Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager Anthony Mulowa, the detour will facilitate smooth traffic flow while works on an ACROW Bridge across the affected section continue. The temporary bridge is expected to be completed by 6 p.m. today.

The section of the Great East Road at Kankumba Stream was washed away on 25th December following heavy rainfall, which caused the failure of a steel Armco culvert and the loss of about five metres of the road embankment.

Mr. Mulowa has urged road users to follow traffic guidance and diversion signage to ensure safety and smooth flow of vehicles.

He also apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that every effort is being made to restore normal traffic as quickly as possible.
