Check out one of Rio Grande Return's completed beaver dam analogs from our project on San Antonio Creek in the Santa Fe National Forest. Last summer, Restoration Program Director, Reid Whittlesey, caught an exciting glimpse of a muskrat enjoying itself in the creek. Keep your eyes peeled to see the muskrat swimming upstream toward the end of the video. With the installation of the BDA, beavers and muskrats returned to the area! Beavers have even wintered here the past couple of seasons. This is an excellent sign that the conditions at San Antonio Creek are returning to a habitable environment again for beavers and their other riparian associates, such as the muskrat.
