Quick Summary of Below:
-Weapons are obtained from Ciaran after killing Artorias in Oolacile
-Both scale well with Dex, the Gold Tracer having A scaling, and the Dark Silver Tracer having S scaling
-Gold Tracer is a better general purpose weapon, so large enemies like Demons, Iron Golem, Etc.
-Silver Tracer is better for enemies that can be parried or backstabbed such as Gwyn, Black Knights, Etc.
-The build in the video is +5 Gold and Dark Silver Tracers, Hornet Ring, and the Lord's Blade armor set, with an un-upgraded Buckler
-The Dark Silver Tracer can be used to parry if carried in the Off-Hand
More Detailed Explanation starts now:
Hello All! Today I decided to showcase these two weapons, The Gold and Dark Silver Tracers, which are the sword and dagger combo carried by Lord's Blade Ciaran, one of the Four Knights of Gwyn. For reference, The Gold Tracer is the curved sword with A grade scaling in Dexterity, while the Dark Silver Tracer is the dagger with S grade scaling in Dexterity. Both of these weapons are fast attacking, and the sword does particularly well against all enemies in general, but specifically Demons such as the Asylum Demon(s), Taurus Demon, Capra Demon, and Great Demon Firesage. This is due to the Bleed effect that comes with the weapon allowing a +5 Gold Tracer to hit for roughly 1/3 of the bosses hp every 3 hits when the bleed hits on NG and NG+1. (Note: The 3 hits must be consecutive for the bleed to immediately hit, or else it begins ticking down as with other status effects). The Dark Silver Tracer is excellent for any enemy you would Parry or Backstab, such as Gwyn, Black Knights, Silver Knights, and other players. The Dark Silver Tracer also carries a Toxic effect, however to get it to proc takes a considerable amount of effort to the point that it may as well not be there.
As seen in this video, I showcased the backstab damage of both weapons as well as parry damage with both weapons while using the Hornet Ring. Please note that I only had 34 Dexterity, thus pure Dex builds will be doing higher damage, and I do believe the Bleed on the Gold Tracer scales with dexterity for its damage dealt, so keep that in mind. Hopefully this showcase helped you get a visual on the damage potential of these weapons, and I would absolutely recommend getting these. I will explain how shortly down below. Another important thing to note is these can be dual-wielded effectively, since the Dark Silver Tracer can Parry, however you lose out on the increased damage from both backstabs, as well as parries when using it as an offhand, which is why I used the buckler and rotated them in Main Hand.
As for obtaining these glorious weapons, it's fairly simple, you just need to go to the DLC area, Oolacile, which anyone playing DS: Remastered has access to, and then you proceed as normal until you kill Artorias. After that, you need to reset the zone, however just resting at a bonfire didn't work, so I went and killed Manus in the meantime. When I got back, Ciaran was at the grave where Artorias died. Now there are two options, you can either A) Trade the Soul of Artorias for the weapons to her when she asks if she may have the soul, or B) Kill her outright, which will give you both the weapons, as well as the armor worn in the video. I chose option B because that was a fresh NG playthrough, so I chose to do a Genocide run and kill all of the NPCs before ending the game. After this, you have both weapons and each uses Twinkling Titanite to upgrade, so you will need 20 to upgrade both to +5. (You can buy an infinite amount from the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo for 8000 souls per piece). That's it for the explanation, thank you for watching!
