The Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close claimed her 297th victory at the helm Saturday, marking the most wins by a head coach in program history, as the Bruins took down Long Beach State 102-51.

The No. 1 UCLA Women's Basketball team (10-0, 1-0 Big Ten) picked up its 10th-straight win Saturday afternoon. Angela Dugalic and Lauren Betts led the team in scoring with 22 points each against Long Beach State (5-4, 2-0 Big West). Betts picked up 10 rebounds to secure a double-double, and Janiah Barker also earned a double-double, scoring 19 points and getting 10 boards.

Five Bruins, including Dugalic, Betts, and Barker finished the game in double figures. Junior Gabriela Jaquez finished the game with 17 points, and junior Kiki Rice scored 12.

The Bruins got off to a dominant start, outscoring the Sharks 28-8 in the first quarter. Betts scored the first points of the game off of a hook shot jumper in the paint. Elina Aarnisalo and Londynn Jones each hit a three-pointer in the period and Jones picked up three assists. Dugalic led the Bruins through the quarter with nine points, no missed shots, three rebounds, and two assists.

UCLA continued to grow its lead in the second quarter. Jaquez opened the quarter with four points in the first two minutes. Dugalic continued to be dominant, picking up seven points and three assists on perfect shooting in the period. UCLA also found success on the defensive end, holding Long Beach State to only 12 points and forcing nine turnovers in the frame.


The Bruins went on an offensive tear in the third, scoring 31 points. Barker led the team with eleven points in her seven minutes on the court. Barker also led the team in rebounding in the period, collecting four boards. Betts and Jaquez each picked up eight points, including a three-point play from Jaquez.


UCLA finished the game with a strong outing in the fourth quarter. Betts and Dugalic scored six a piece in the final frame, while Barker and Rice finished the quarter with four each. The Bruins scored 18 points in the paint in the quarter while holding the Sharks to only 16 total points in the period.

UP NEXT - vs. Cal Poly (Dec. 16)
The Bruins will return home to face off against Cal Poly at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Dec. 16th, 2024. The game will tip at 7 p.m. PST on Monday and will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus.
