How General Mamady Doumbouya Captured Guinea

On September 5, 2021, Guinea experienced a significant political upheaval when President Alpha Condé was ousted in a military coup.

The man behind this dramatic event was Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, the head of the Special Forces Group.

Doumbouya justified the coup by citing widespread corruption, economic mismanagement, and a lack of political inclusivity under Condé's administration. Following the coup, Doumbouya assumed leadership, promising a transitional government and eventual return to civilian rule.
